A Not so Brief Introduction

I’ve long toyed with the idea of starting a music-centric blog, but for whatever reason never got around to it. I used to write weekly speed reviews of new Japanese releases over at my main blog, but it quickly became a chore with the burden of a time schedule and I ended up dropping the project within a year (around November 2007).

As I pushed myself to listen to, and review an average of 10-12 singles & albums a week I ended up totally burnt out. I no longer found joy in the simple art of listening to music, and I dreaded the thought of having to go through 6 hours of listening to utter tripe every Wednesday - all this for the sake of another blog post! By the end of it all, my evalution was that writing TWIJ wasn’t worth the trouble anymore. I stopped listening to Japanese music for a while.

Fast forward nine months, and I’m feeling a little more refreshed. Instead of listening to whatever is in the top 10 of the Oricon, I’ve taken to exploring lesser-known and under-appreciated acts, just as I used to do back before I started blogging. I’m actually listening to the music as opposed to just hearing, and forgetting about it twenty minutes later. As of now, I believe I’m ready to tackle writing about music again; albeit on a smaller and less frequent scale.

Anyone randomly stopping by this blog might wonder who the heck I am and what on earth is the sort of music I like. Cutting a long story short - I’m j1m0ne, and I like all sorts of music. Not very helpful I know. I guess I should direct you to the About page for more info.

So what can you expect from this blog? The usual stuff - music reviews, musings, rants etc etc. Mostly Japanese artists, occasionally Chinese. What not to expect? Downloads - go buy the records yourself, you miserly whinger. What sets me apart from all the other music blogs? Hmmm. I’ll have to get back to you on that one.

Still with me then? Welcome to beta music mode, pardon the crappy name - I lack inspiration.
